NEONATAL PEDIATRIC oF DEPARTMENT
At NICH, our team is highly expert in the field of neonatal pediatrics at NICH, Karachi. We are ready round the clock to tackle the newborn problems coming from Karachi as well as interior and parts Baluchistan. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit admits about 5000 newborns each year.
We provide skill care including incubator care to preterm babies. We have modern ventilators available in our unit for very sick babies requiring artificial ventilation. Modern phototherapy gadgets for those babies having jaundice are also present.
The Neonatal ICU at NICH is one of the largest unit in Pakistan, equipped with 60 Incubators, 40 Bedded Step-down Unit, 20 Ventilators, 50 Phototherapy Units, Arterial Blood Gas Machine, Portable X-Ray CR Machine and Portable Ultrasound.
We monitor this babies with Multipara ( ) and Pulse Oximeter. Portable Echo facility is also available in our unit.
For quick report of sick babies we have Online Laboratory System to take immediate decision regarding management of this sick babies. State of the art Pharmacy Facility is also available 24/7 in our unit for accurate dosing of drugs used in neonatal patients and to avoid over dosing.

Our highly expert team ready to deal with the neonatal diseases such as, Preterm Babies with Complications, Conjoined Twins, Meconium Aspirations Syndrome, Congenital Cardiac Disease, Congenital Anomalies, Screening and treating patients of ROP .

FUTURE PLANS
We have plan to provide better care by providing Heated Humidified High Flow Nasal Cannula, Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation and High Frequency Ventilation (HFOV). Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is in process to be recognized for pediatric neonatology Fellowship program by College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan.
